This is Dick's recording of the 2nd big aftershock today - originally registered at 6.9 and later downgraded to 6.7. Sudden motion sensors surrounding the hard drives in Macintosh computers are used to record the seismic motion of earthquakes.

Be sure to check out the older posts for earthquake photos.

Thanks to all for their concerns for our safety and well-being!

So Grateful - It Could Have Been a Much Closer Call - Pictures

The guest house near Santa Barbara
where we stayed for nearly a week
and which is now in ruins.

The beach front at Dichato where a three tsunami
waves (up to 20 feet high) washed ashore destroying
80% of the community. We spent two nights in a
hotel about a block from the beach.

The battleship Huascar was
the world's second ironclad
ship and was captured from
the Peruvians during
the War of the Pacific (1880's).
Fortunately it was not hit
by a 25,000 ton ship that
smashed a nearby
pier and ended up on
the shore.
